Who is Jesus?
Throughout history, every person who has tried to reveal who God is to the people has struggled, often failing because their own human biases and frailty got in the way. From Moses to Malachi, even the best of them couldn’t perfectly show us the God they served.
John 1:18 (NIV)
"No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known."
Now, the "seeing" here isn’t just about using your physical eyes to look at something. It's deeper than that. It’s about having true insight, the right perspective, and a clear understanding of who God is. The problem before was that people’s awareness of God was clouded by misconceptions.
Colossians 1:15 ( NIV )
"The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation."
The word "image" here actually means a reflection, like a mirror. Just as a son might reflect his father’s character, mannerisms, likes, and dislikes, Jesus perfectly reflected the nature of God.
Before Jesus came, our understanding of God was distorted. But Jesus came to show us the truth: that the God who seemed so distant is actually closer than we think, and His very essence is Love. He came to reveal all that God is. Jesus Christ is the love of God to mankind.
A person’s words reveal a lot about who they are – their nature, their thoughts, and their intentions. When you listen to someone speak, you can often get a glimpse of their true essence. In the same way, we’ve learned that Jesus is the Word made flesh. Through Jesus, the very heart and intent of God are made clear to us. If you want to know God’s purpose for you, you’ll find it in Jesus. He is the embodiment of God’s intentions for humanity.
PRAYER:
Thank you Father for your word that gives understanding to the simple. In the name of Jesus I come into a full understanding of the person of Christ. My understanding is fully enlightened to see all he did on the cross of Calvary. Amen.
